Training camps for triathletes are a great opportunity to the develop your performance before the season begins. But it is not just about the opportunity to do more miles, solid training sessions and develop technique. A triathlon training camp is so much more than that, here are a number of reasons to attend a professionally coached, structured triathlon training camp.
The Training Benefit
A training camp will allow you to abandon your daily routine and lifestyle behind for a few days and focus exclusively on maximising your training and your recovery. A structured one-week block of focused, specific and balanced training can have a positive impact on your triathlon performance for the remainder of the season.
Maximise your Recovery
Often neglected at home, due to our busy lifestyles, a camp offers you the chance to maximise your time between sessions. No kids or family commitments, no school runs, no work meetings to dash to… throughout the camp you get the opportunity to recover like a pro. Time for stretching, resting, using the foam roller… just chilling out.
The Coaching Team with 20 years experience
Having the chance to engage with, ask questions, discuss your training with a professional coaching team during your training camp is invaluable. The coaching team on our camps have 20 plus years’ experience and have worked with athletes and coaches around the world. They are passionate about the sport of Triathlon, and love nothing more than a discussion about it, be it the history, training or the future.
With the team that we have we will keep the coach to athlete ratio very low. Our lead coach is a swim technique expert and has worked with some of the very best.
The Yellow Dot in the Blue sky
January, February and March in the UK can suck! The weather is rarely nice, the days are always short and when we do get a chance to get outside, let’s be honest, its freezing! A training camp enables you to be outside, probably in shorts and t-shirt, in the sunshine. Training in this sort of weather is so motivational. Who wouldn’t want to ride their bike on days like this, perhaps go for a run on the trails or along the coastine, or swim in the deep blue Mediterranean, or relaxing by the hotel pool between sessions?
The Venue and the facilities
A Triathlon training camp location is all about giving you access to elite level training facilities. In Colonia De Sant Jordi, we have stunning open water swimming locations, a 50m heated outdoor pool, a 400m running track, and 20km of private off road trails for running and endless smooth roads for cycling. Bradley Wiggins once described these local roads as, “A Scalextric Track for cyclists!”
Finally, your fellow like-minded Triathletes
During a triathlon training camp you make new friends, create new (fun) rivalries and meet some bloody inspirational people! Having delivered training camps since 2012, I can tell you that some of the biggest inspirations come from some of the most surprising places.
Training with other people around you, who quickly become your team mates, will help you maximise both your training and your time away from home.
