Introducing Fiona! An athlete who has recently started working with F4L Triathlon Coaching. Fiona has held a Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon in a doctor’s uniform!
Why do you do Triathlon: I have come to enjoy the variety that goes with multisport training and the reduce risk of injuries due to the repetitive impact of running in particular. The fact that it is a very inclusive welcoming sport helps too. Oh and the opportunities to represent your country which generally aren’t an option if Olympic selection passed you by!
What is your sporting back ground: I came to exercise in my early 30s as a way to lose weight and improve my health. In doing this I discovered running when I couldn’t walk any faster on the treadmill and never looked back. Since then I’ve added the other disciplines when I was injured and running was no longer an option.
What attracted you to F4L: Without a plan I tend to just drift aimlessly and never progress. F4L offered a great coaching package which I hope will help me to move forward.
What are your targets: To be in the top half of the GB qualifying group instead of the bottom half.
Favourite motivational quote: “It is never too late to be what you might have been” George Elliot
Favourite training song / music track: I really love the quiet time I get with training so I don’t listen to music, but my favourite track ever is Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen
