Junior’s Questionnaire – Clancy (aka ‘Gizmo’)

Clancy Nationals 3I thought it would be fun to have some of the F4L Tri Team athletes answer some questions about their training… so as a starter I sent the questionnaire around the junior academy athletes…

Brace yourself – these guys don’t pull any punches!

This is what Clancy came up with…

What’s the first thing to enter your mind when you wake up on a training day?
I will get to see everyone!

Tell me your favourite F4L story.
On my first day Paul told me to walk around the oval backward meaning to walk around the oval the opposite way we were running but I actually walked round the oval backwards.

Who trains and who complains the hardest?
I complain a lot about my legs hurting and I don’t really know if anyone else complains!!  Martin works very hard on the group rides. Trigg doesn’t like to get “chicked”

What’s your favourite / least favourite type of training?
My favourite is running and my least favourite is probably riding but I’m starting to enjoy riding a lot more.

If you could have any superpower – what would it be?
Time travel

What’s your typical meal and snack line up on a training day?
Weetbix for breakfast, banana & weetbix drink 1 hr prior to race

What’s your usual pre-race routine?
The night before my race I pack my bag and put my bike on the back of the car and get out a bowl and breakfast for breakfast and get out all my gear I need to wear so that I don’t have to do much when I wake up.

Describe the perfect 2016/17 for you.
to get into the state team, do well in all of my races (trying my best) becoming friends with new people.

Quick fire round:

Favourite training music?
pop

Favourite chocolate bar? (If you have one!)
oreo

Favourite film and why?
cool runnings because it is really funny and enjoyable to watch and I can relate to Pauls jokes 

Biggest inspiration?
Sally Pearson and Emma Moffatt

What’s the best bit of advice you’ve ever received (that you’re able to share!)?
You won’t see any difference in your races unless you train hard.
