We have been deliberating as a family for many months, and I’m afraid that we have made the decision that we are going to return to live in the UK.
In reality, we’ve been considering the pros and cons for at least 9 months. There are a number of reasons for our move, but in reality, being closer to family is our main reason. We’ve also come to realise just how remote Perth is in the world, and are missing quick / cheap travel options within Europe. We have also been missing the real change in seasons in Europe, and a traditional cold Christmas.
We have not pinned down exact dates at this stage, but will aim to move ready for the start of the school year in the UK (early September). We’re going to be moving back to Northumberland, in the North East of England.
I am grateful and proud to have developed the ‘F4L Family’. I am also extremely proud to have been part of Phoenix Triathlon Club here in Australia and had the opportunity to be part of the wider Western Australia Triathlon community. It has been wonderful to have been a part of so many athletes' triathlon journey. But, possibly more importantly to have developed some life long friendships.
I will, of course, be continuing to coach. I have loved the learning opportunities I have had with Triathlon Australia. I have some ideas I would like to pursue within Triathlon which are not possible in Western Australia. I will also be developing some exciting new training camps in Europe.
I am especially grateful for the ongoing support the triathlon community has given me and my family throughout the last six years.
Maybe I’ll return to WA at some point to see how far you have come, or perhaps you will come and join me on one of the camps in the future?
